'A florist favorite, craspedia adds intrigue to the garden with clusters of sunny orbs and is dazzling in cut or dried arrangements. The blooms may look delicate, but the plants are tough, tolerating drought, heat, and heavy, poor soil. This pollinator-attracting flower is commonly known in its native countries of New Zealand and Australia as Billy buttons. Perennial in USDA zones 8–11 and warmer, often grown as an annual. In perennial areas, good drainage is required in winter.

Variety Information: 1" globes made up of over 100 tiny, mustard-yellow flowers on long stems

When to Sow Outside: 2 to 4 weeks after your average last frost date, when soil has warmed.

When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. 6 to 8 weeks before your average last frost date. Ideal temperature for germination is 65°–85°F.

Thinning: When 3" tall, thin to 1 every 12"

Harvesting: For longest vase life, or for drying, harvest in the morning, choosing flowers that are fully colored. Change vase water frequently.
