This is a prescription item, requiring a script from a Vet for approval. Many speciality foods are not flavorful, however both my cats love this. The nutrients to help with kidney disease do help slow the progression. The hydrolyzed protein makes it much easier for my cat to digest the food without the protein causing inflammation to the pancreas. Highly recommended!

This special dry food is very hard to find. I have to treat Belle for IBD and early stage kidney disease. The great people at Southern Agriculture are so helpful in getting this multifunctional food to me in a timely manner, I am in Florida. This is Star. She suddenly became allergic to her food (Chicken, poultry) when she was 15 yrs old. It took several months with the vet to finally figure out what was wrong, but during this process, she was diagnosed with early kidney disease, so she needed a food trial to see if she was allergic to her food. The problem was that she had to be on special prescription food to slow the progress of her kidney disease, but needed a hydrolized food for the food trial. Finally, my vet found out about this food (Royal Canin multifunction renal + hydrolyzed protein cat food) from a colleague of hers. We put Star on this food trial for 12 weeks & it not only proved that she did have a food allergy, but also became her food for the rest of her life! She is still thriving and is now 16 going on 17. Excellent food. The food is the medicine. All of the cats with both kidney failure and pancreatitis love it and readily eat it. They are actually putting on weight with this food rather than steadily losing as they had been. We also have fewer flair ups of pancreatitis with throwing up bile, etc. This food has been a game changer for my two cats that need it. It's expensive but way cheaper than a vet bill for a cat on death's doorstep.

Royal Canin Multifunction Renal Support Hydrolyzed Protein dry food is the only food my cat's internal system tolerates. The Royal Canin RS/HP cat food is literally a life saver for cats with renal disease and it is almost impossible to find. If you find it on eBay or Amazon, the price is double normal retail.
So when I found this food at Southern Agriculture and the price was not jacked up, I couldn't believe it.
I was running out and had no source to buy more. Things looked bleak for my cat. To say SA is a life saver is not exaggerating. I cannot thank them enough for their integrity in pricing, fast and free shipping, and love for animals and their owners. I love SA!!

I reside in the state of Hawaii.
We have an 18 year old female cat diagnosed with kidney and skin issues. Our vet suggested a change in her diet and prescribed the Royal Canin Renal Support Hydrolyzed Protein dry food.
Luckily she had no problems switching to this food and after several months, the bald patches cleared up and she stopped vomiting.
Unfortunately this product has been constantly out of stock island wide and we’ve had no choice but to be put on a waiting list - it’s been months with no replenishment to this day.
I then called Royal Canin’s customer service department (they were very helpful) and they provided the link to Southern Agriculture where I was able to purchase this product online. Thankfully it arrived just in time! I am so grateful that our kitty was able to continue on with this diet without disruption.

This food can often be difficult to get. There is one supplier who price gouges, charging more than twice as much as Southern Agriculture. Southern Agriculture doesn’t does not do that; they sell it for a fair price. They ship it quickly and make it easy for me to track the delivery.

This is the only food that addresses both gut issues and kidney/renal disease. One of our cats has a rare kidney disease and also has IBD. Thankfully this food addresses both, recommended by his nephrologist (kidney doc) and the veterinary nutritionist we worked with. (He’s a happy, affectionate, wonderful cat who does not know he’s sick, and has trained me to give him treats when he “gives me paw.”)
Southern Agriculture was the only place we found that had it in stock initially, and the owner double checked that “renal” was what we wanted, since there’s another version that looks identical except it says “kidney” instead of renal. Great shop, great food.

On the plus side, the company was super fast in their delivery and confirming the vet’s prescription for RC KD/HP, and I couldn’t be happier with the speed and efficiency the product was delivered to me. Would definitely order from again, if the girls hadn’t reacted poorly to this particular product.
Unfortunately, it seems my cats have more than a poultry allergy-something in this product-perhaps the soy, another common allergen- didn’t agree with them. They began vomiting within a day of mixing it in at 1/4. Seeing my vet for a checkup in a few days and hoping they can find another food to try.
