Our male tabby has a tendency to develop urinary blockages due to crystals forming in his system. Our veterinarian recommended this food for our middle-aged tabby male. He suffered routinely with urinary crystals up until we began using this food. It’s fortified with the daily nutrients he needs as well as supplements to help his body resist creating urinary crystals. Our male tabby has recurring urinary tract issues, which has landed him at the veterinarian’s office several times in the last 6-8 years. Our 15 year old cat was diagnosed with Stage 2 kidney failure wrll over a year ago. As is often the case, the prescribed kidney care food both dry and wet were refused in short order, regardless of which if the several prominent brands were tried. Next came the search for anything that he WOULD eat; an all too familiar process many are familiar with. After a number of ups and downs, but with him still in pretty good spirits, weight, and hydration shape a new vet suggested trying the urinary and c/d types of prescription food, including Royal Canin’s Urinary SO + Calm wet and dry. We ordered both, and rather amazingly, he has been accepting the wet formulation. We will likely add the dry to supplement when he isn’t eating enough wet version each day.
I am particularly grateful to Sourhern Agriculture as they are the sole source either our Vet or we could find for these two Royal Canin varieties!

This food has helped our car, patriot recover from cystitis. It truly has made a dramatic difference in the quality of his life. However, I am disappointed in how much each one of these cans cost us to provide food for our dear cat, Patriot.
In addition, the packaging each time we order this food is overkill. It is wrapped in bubble wrap and fragile is written on the box when this is unnecessary for cans being shipped. It is wrapped in tape that I have difficulty cutting open with scissors, as well. I appreciate the care taken in the packaging, but feel like it can be done in a better environmentally friendly way.

When my cat had a urinary blockage, the veternarian indicated that he must go on prescription urinary cat food from now on. He also recommended that we get the kind that has “stress relief” additives also. We decided to try the Royal Canin SO + Calm. We alternate this food with Hill’s Prescription Diet C/D because he likes variety. My only negative on the Royal Canin is that they only have one “unidentified” flavor. The label doesn’t tell if it is supposed to be chicken or seafood or what. Hill’s has a variety of flavor choices and identifies them. My cat seems to like both the Royal Canin and Hill’s so far but it has only been a month. I have noticed that the “calm” or “stress” versions seem to make him a little bit more “dopey/sleepy”. I don’t believe that they necessarily make him less stressed because he is a literal scaredy cat. Overall, good product.
